Week of Science April 2017

To support the nations efforts to call for evidence-based policy, a group of graduate students decided to join local efforts and hold events to educate the public on the importance of science to our everyday lives. Below are pictures from the Science Trivia Night as well as the Hurricane Education talk, in collaboration with the CLEO Institute.

My Blog: Not Your Timezone

I originally created my blog to expose the next generation of marine scientists to the wonders of life at sea. It quickly evolved into a platform where I could share information I have learned so far with others who might be interested. Check out my blog to read about my participation in the latest Bluefin tuna Larval Ecology Research Cruise in the US Virgin Islands.

Community Activities

I strive to make science palatable for all audiences. My science means nothing to me if people from all walks of life and ages can not at least grasp the main concepts. Please check out the posters and pictures of some of my latest activities.

August 2016 students ages 7-15, from the Mt Hermon AME Fresh Start Summer camp, in Miami Gardens visited UM's RSMAS campus. During the day they were exposed to an array of research activities taking place on campus and at the near by NOAA facility.
